A Trio Of Blues

I think most of us wear blue polish year round; probably lighter or darker, depending on the season. 

Here's just three that I have worn lately. My first is Kiko 653 which is part of their Cupcake line. These came out a while back when textured polish was very popular. I have a top coat on in this picture, but you can still see the texture.

This is Kawagebo by Elevation. It is a light blue crelly (half way between a cream and jelly finish) with a very subtle gold shimmer. Elevation Polish's creator Lulu is an outdoor trekker and the majority of her colors are named after geological areas in the world. More importantly, Elevation Polish has proven it's quality and integrity.

Finally, I have Wet by Floss Gloss. This color is luminous light turquoise cream and it gets complements when I wear it. Floss Gloss is what I term a Boutique polish. Floss Gloss is the creative child of two art school grads and they have a very different take on the polish culture. Some of their polishes I have no interest in but I do have quite a few. Bottles run $8 and you can buy a few individual colors from Amazon with free shipping.

Catching Up With Blue, Green and a Gold

Hello, hope everyone is doing good today. It has been a while so I thought I had better catch you up on what I have been wearing lately. These two colors have already been on my Style blog The MeadowTree Journal. Here goes............

I wore Lake Of Shining Water to go with a great new necklace I added to my jewelry collection.

Of course, I had to pick a polish to wear with my pieces. This is Lake of Shining Water by Literary Lacquer.  I can't say enough about Amy Milder's creations. She bases her collections on her and her fan's favorite books.The color I am wearing is from the Ann of Green Gable's collection. Started in 2012, Literary Lacquer's quality is impeccable and Amy has such a creative outlook on her polishes. Every August, she makes a limited edition polish for her birthday. I have snagged two birthday polishes at this point and find I always have room for more Literary Lacquer. If you are interested in a safe great Indie polish, check her out on ETSY. 

I picked Floss Gloss's Wet to complement some orange and brown styling that I did.

I wore another Floss Gloss when I went to the Kansas City Film Festival to see Jeremy Scott and the debut of the new documentary about him as a designer. This is Stun, an incredible gold based micro glitter. This never made it to the blog because I only put our red carpet photo on Instagram. 

 So here's a first. I putting a style picture on this blog before I do it on my style blog. You can see why I picked the gold.

Wrapped Presents

 Hi all, just a simple quick post of something I put together today.

These are some simple holiday nail designs. The base is Revlon's Golden. The ribbon and bows are Stripe Rite's Gold and the white is Floss Gloss's Mrs. Tony Montana.

 Now the the fancy wrap adding Floss Gloss's Second Base along with some rhinestones.

Getting Elegant With Floss Gloss

Hello on this Friday! Everybody ready for the weekend? I decided to spend my weekend wearing soft with a little bling. These two babies are Moon Baby and Dimepiece from Floss Gloss.

So first, lets discuss the polish. 

Moon Baby-Moon Baby is, in my opinion, is a very light greyed blue. I have a lot of blues but nothing like this one. It's rich but subtle in color. Moon Baby's formula seem to be on the thin side to me. Usually, with Floss Gloss, I get great coverage with one coat and put on two just because. But with Moon Baby, I needed three. 

Dimepiece-Dimepiece is a holographic metallic silver glitter. A lot of people make these. But what makes this one special is that it is made up of fine and smaller pieces of glitter. It is like that had someone in mind who likes to paint small intricate lines. I could so see a spider web with Dimepiece for Halloween.

I took most of these photos yesterday. I woke up today and decided that I needed one totally blinged out nail!

And I love this look with my new fun ring. This is going to be my IG Monday Mani next Monday.

Well, that's it for today. Is anyone else smitten with Floss Gloss? Floss Gloss was created by two art school graduates who have a different take on polish and presentation. I'm up to 20 of their colors and am still lemming for Perf.

April Showers With Floss Gloss

Hello Everyone! Welcome to the April Hobby Polish Bloggers" April Linkup! This month our theme is April Showers. When I read this, I knew this was perfect for one of my favorite polish girls, Floss Gloss. I managed to get five different FGs in this one.

So here is the run down:

Base coat: 95% Angel
Tips: Glowstar
Flowers (interior): Lean
Dots on tips: Wet
Dots inside dots: Mrs. Tony Montana

The line and rain drops were drawn with a Molotow 1mm white acrylic paint pen.  I love that pen and use it when ever I can. 

The design is pretty abstract. That's what I like. I think it is just more wearable. It's the colors these ladies make that I love and just wanted a design that these colors could just do their thing.

This is a composite that I made and will probably put this one on Instagram. 

Well, it's short and sweet today. I love these polishes. I have about a dozen and know of three more that I am eventually going to get (Dimepiece, Pony and Blood Sweat and Suede).

52 Week Pick N Mix-Floss Gloss And Lace

Hello again!

This is  week 18 of the 52 week challenge. The promp that I chose was the alternative (non-glitter) topper. Being a sewer, I have quite a fabric stash and found some black lace that had flowers.

The base is Floss Gloss's Dinge, which is a great nude pink. I thought it went fantastic with the black flowers and added some black studs from The Born Pretty Store for extra visual interest.

The lace idea is a definite repeat. Finding lace small enough is half the battle. After that, everything went quite easily.

 I put on a top coat and then placed the lace and after that dried, added a second coat of clear. If I was wearing this for an extended time and would also top coat the studs.

So what do you think? Would you use non nail products for nail design.

Donatella Has Tanlines-Two From Floss Gloss

My title is a tad dorky, but these polishes go together so well, I had to write it!

This is a nail design using Tanlines and Donatella by Floss Gloss.  I am just one of the legions of fans of this brand.

Quick Notes About These Two Colors

Tanlines

Tanlines is a tan with a pink overtone. Floss Gloss describes it as "pinto bean brown".  It is a thick cream that could be a one coater if wanted. 

It is the prettiest, in fact a stand out from the other tans I own. 

I got out my tan toned colors and you can see how Tanlines really stands out from the colors I own.  Tea And Toast is the only one that also has that richness, but with a lot darker tone. 

Donatella

Donatella is one of Floss Gloss's latest creations. It is one part of the three part set "Life Styles Of The Floss And Gloss".

Donatella, to me, is a rich caramel cream with copper and gold flakies. It is a beautiful color indoors but in natural sunlight the copper really stands out.

Floss Gloss is the creative brainchild of Janine Lee and Aretha Sack, two art students out of San Francisco. Their lacquer quality (color and technical), packaging and presentation is just top drawer.  The Lookbook on their website is a visual feast. It is an incredibly fun company to follow on IG.

Right now my Floss Gloss sticker is on one of my Yoga bricks. For no more than I use them, it is good for a while.

Golden Oldie Thursday-Darling Diva's CHANNELING COCO

I am pretty happy! This is my first Golden Oldie Thursday post ever.  I am using Darling Diva's Channeling Coco. It is a fairy sheer base with a limited amount (on purpose) of pink and smaller black glitter.

Cult Nail's Thrive

 Thrive was part of Cult Nail's Spring Radiance collection this past spring. Cult Nails had some fabulous sales this summer and I made sure I picked Thrive up. This is a light mint green with teal shimmer. On top of that it has a slight texture and dries to a waxed finish. For me, it is a classic Cult Nail look and I love it. It can still be purchased at the Cult Nail website. 

Rescue Beauty Lounge's Fire Queen

The one brand that I have been really wanting this past year has been Rescue Beauty Lounge. I finally have a few in the stash. Fire Queen was part of the Fan 2.0 collection that came out during the late fall of 2013. Fire Queen is a light jadeite cream. It's inspiration comes from the vintage green glass and  Fire King cookware of the mid-20th century. It is very unique in it shade and being Rescue Beauty Lounge it goes on 
flawlessly.  

Floss Gloss's Glowstar

 

Floss Gloss's Glowstar is a cream that reminds me of those glow in the dark stars that you buy for the kids' rooms. This is probably my favorite of the four colors presented today. Glowstar was the one polish that attracted me to Floss Gloss which was created by two art students. Floss Gloss has a very unique website to visit and see their other lacquers. 

CrowsToes' Green Thumb Of Doom

 I got Green Thumb Of Doom in an Ebay auction last winter to support dog rescue. This is from the 2013 Spring THIS collection. It is still buy-able at Llarowe. Green Thumb is a brighter green shimmer polish with green micro-flakes. In the bottle I didn't think I would like it. But on, it is an entirely different thing. The micro-flakes get a silver look about them when in the sun and it is just stunning. This one will be around for awhile. 

 Nail Art

I wanted to keep Glowstar on a little longer and so added a quick design using Nuf-oh 56. 

I hoped you enjoyed my curated light and bright greens. Usually I just pick three, but it was harder this time so four made the cut. And all four of these polishes are cruelty free. I cannot find out 100% about Nfu-Oh.
