Houndstooth

I decided to take part in a mani swap challenge sponsored by Nail Art Nation. I got Dante Bianchino who had done some houndstooth nails that I admired. I had always wanted to try houndstooth and thought I would eventually stamp some. But she had hand painted hers so that's what I did.

Dante's nails were black on white. But I decided to put them on a self made holo background. I first painted my nails with OPI's Moon Over Mumbai and topped that with Piper Polish's Spectaflair. I then painted the houndstooth (using a tutorial) and wish I had made my design a little larger. It was hard in the end with the final lines. But, I kept having trouble with placement when I made them larger. I am not too happy with them. But it is what it is. Next time, I will try to stamp them because I know I have a plate. 

I am also using this for the WNAC2015 on Instagram so I am just blogging about it today.

Wine Down by Piper Polish

Hello on this Hump Day Wednesday. I have a very quick little post this morning. It's a result of an Instagram photo I put up on Friday with my Iphone. I was sitting at a desk and thought the composition was good so snapped a pic. 

But I just didn't like how the pic showed this polish which is Wine Down by Piper Polish. You would think it was brown in my photo and I have the original photo down below. But the polish is so much more. 

Wine Down does have some brown tones to it. But it is really a purple brownish mauve with a scattered (mainly green) holo. Quite a different animal than just plain brown. 

Piper Polish now has a very limited shop on ETSY. Wine Down is not offered right now, which is a shame. Althought I did not have a problem, it sometimes seems that she has trouble with getting things shipped on time. 

 Last Fall I ordered a full bottle of her Spectraflair and Wine Down and received them within the week.

Earlier in the post I mentioned Spectraflair. This is an equally gorgeous polish. It does not cut corners on linear holo. To check out what it looks like, here is the link to my post last Fall about it.

Piper Polish's Spectraflair

Last weekend, I attended my first Kansas City Fashion Week event. One of my main decisions, of course, was what to wear for my nails.

I decided on Piper Polish's Spectraflair over black (Essence's Black Is Back).

Piper Polish is an Indie on ETSY. I found Piper Polish when I was searching for a Spectraflair polish. 

This particular top coat is made with the Course Grade Spectra-Flair 1500-35. This sounded pretty good to me, so I ordered it along with Wine Down. I will have to feature Wine Down in a later post. 

This polish has a good consistency. It  can go on as a one coater or more, depending on how dramatic you want your nails. I had a good experience with Piper Polish's  Spectraflair. And in bright light, it looks fabulous.

The fashion show had rather low lighting, so the Spectraflair spectrum really didn't show up during during the event. For the most part it looked like a dark metallic gray. 
 
Here's my daughter Rachelle (she's the young one on the left) and me (I'm the old one on the right) at Union Station. I wore basically black, silver and gray. The Spectraflair fitted in just perfectly.
