Sparkly Chocolate Candy Corn

The real reason for this post is I need a photo of my Dear Russ glitter. I am making a visual record of my entire stash on Pinterest and there is no picture for Glitter Shade Shift 96 anywhere on the web. And that is some name, huh? But it is a beautiful polish. 96 has various sizes of red orange and gold glitters in a pink looking base. It makes for a great fall glitter. And I think it ties in great with Halloween. I am thinking chocolate candy corn.

Dear Russ, as the best as I can make out, was a Korean Indie. Because of family issues they closed up shop a year ago. That happened just after I got three of their polishes from Llarowe.

I first painted my nails with Impala's Conqueiros. This is a gorgeous darker orange shimmer. I also purchased my Impala from Llarowe. Now it looks like Amazon is the place to get it.

Next came the gradient using Spa Ritual's Can You Dig It? on the thumb, middle and small finger and Zoya's Codie on the pointer and ring finger. Finally,  I topped everything off with a coat of my Dear Russ.

I need photos of the other two Dear Russ polishes, but will do them after Halloween.

So there you go. Hope you like my chocolate candy corn nails. Take care and think Shiny.

Design Mashup

Hello Everyone, Here I am posting on a Sunday again. I finally got a new post finished and decided to just do it. I hope everyone is having a good start to the new week!

I am calling today's design a mashup. The mashup idea that I am using is from the sewing world. A mashup is when you put together different patterns and ideas to create one look. The idea I had for this mani seem to do just that.

I think I am going to just list in order what I did. That would be easier to follow along-sort of a how to.

STEP 1-I first did a skittle. The thumb and pinky has Rescue Beauty Lounge's Jane, the index finger has Spa Ritual's Mood and the middle and ring finger has Butter London's Pitter Patter.

Step 2-I then did a gradient using Rescue Beauty Lounge's Jane on Butter London's Pitter Patter.

Step 3-Using Butter London's Pitter Patter and a dotting tool, I created the large dots on Rescue Beauty Lounge's Jane.

Step 4-Using an idea that I got from Shelby Lou Nails, I first stamped dots on my index finger and then used that pattern as a guide to make dots using with Rescue Beauty Lounge's Jane.

Step 5-I then top-coated everything with a-england's Hurt No Living Thing and when that dried finished everything off with a top coat.

Hurt No Living Thing added a beautiful violet shimmer to the whole look. Being of thin consistency, I think this is what it was made for.

Rescue Beauty Lounge's Jane is what started it all. I got  Jane in an Ebay auction with two other RBL polishes. Although it has shimmer, it doesn't really show up that well on the nail and I thought it was just sort of boring. I starting thinking what I could add to it and one thing lead to another.

I really thought this was a beautiful group of polishes so had to take a shot. I also added Jolie Polish's liquid latex. After finding her on ETSY,  I've started to do a little more gradient work. I just hated the clean up. And now I don't have hardly any to do.

I also have her 3 in 1 brush and can say it is an excellent investment.

That's it for today. Take care and have a great week<3!

Tainted Love by Signet Nails

Hello and how is everyone doing? Are you ready for some gorgeous blue! I am ALWAYS ready for some gorgeous blue on my nails!

Today, I am wearing Tainted Love by Signet Nails. Tainted Love is part of Signet Nails' Only Love collection that also includes Violet Femme and Out of the Woods.

I will tell you up front that I have a special affection for this one. I almost won Lauren's Valentine polish naming with the song title of Tainted Love. I am sure all of us remember some cover version of the song.

She liked the name and although my suggestion didn't win the red polish (that became Kiss Off), she decided to make a new blue using my suggestion.

As you can see by my photos, Tainted Love is a dark sultry blue with scattered holo. And it is a jelly, which excited me because I have a very limited collection of jellies.

In two coats I achieved the opacity that I wanted. In the nail art section, I first put on my base of metallic silver and the blue covered it up just fine.

When dried, the surface does have a slight textural finish. I solved this with two coats of Pure Ice's Girl on the Run topcoat.

Very simple nail art using Tainted Love with Spa Ritual's Silver Shimmer

Had to put in a bottle shot.

Are there any other addicted blue lovers out there and what do you think about this one? I follow a great blog (although she is taking a vacation at the moment) that focuses on blue polish. You should check out Mystery Loves Blue for some beautiful polishes and photos.

Also don't forget to check out Signet Nails' ETSY shop.

That's all I have for today. Take care and stay warm (it's still really cold here).

Pick N Mix #16-Gaff's Unicorn Origami From Bladerunner

The Challenge for The Pick N Mix this week was a holo polish and a film. I hope this means a cinematic film and not some nail technique that I have never heard of! I picked the unicorn origami from Blade Runner.

I have long been a fan of Ridley Scott's 1982 Blade Runner. This movie is dark, genius and haunting. It has seen many different cuts and there is always the age old question: Is Decker a replicant?

So on to the actual nail design part. For the holo part, I used a-england's Fated Prince. This needed to be dark.  The Unicorn is painted with Spa Ritual's Silver Shimmer. The top coat is something new for me. It is Pure Ice's Girl On The Run. I don't buy Pure Ice anymore because of it's association with Revlon, but made an exception for this top coat. Everyone has been raving so much about it, I decided to try it.

Another new experience for me was using Julep's Plie´ Wand. It came in a free box this month and I only had to pay for the two extra attachments. I thought it worked pretty good, especially the stripper. It just added a little extra fun to the whole bit.

It's hard for me do do something about this movie and not show a few scenes and dialogue from it. So here goes. The first has to be Gaff's Unicorn.

Gaff (Edward James Olmos): You've done a man's job, sir. I guess you're through, huh?
Deckard (Harrison Ford): Finished.
[Gaff throws Deckard his gun]
Gaff: It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?

Batty: (Rutger Hauer) I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... Time to die.

Deckard (Harrison Ford): Do you love me?
Rachael (Sean Young): I love you.
Deckard: Do you trust me?
Rachael: I trust you.

A new life awaits you in the Off-world colonies! A chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure!

Blade Runner is loosely based on the Phillip K. Dick novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"

That's it for this time around. Hope I didn't bore anyone with my movie stuff. So until we meet again, pleasant dreams!

There Was A Wedding

Well, the wedding has come and gone. My baby is married. We worked on nail ideas earlier this summer and this is what she decided on.

I am sharing two nails from the wedding. The first is Rachelle's, the bride. And I am proud to say she did them herself.  I can't show you the polishes because, although mine, they are at their apartment and they are in the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon.

Spy Princess And Metallics

We had another visual art event to attend. This event was Spectrum's Raw Natural Artists* in Kansas City. Our daughter, Rachelle was one of the participants so Mom and Dad had to go.

This was a pretty dressy affair, so I really had fun doing this look.  My nails are usually designed to coordinate with what I am wearing. It was especially true this time.

There were three main inspirations: a knitted grey with silver metallic threads top, a chrome and acrylic baguette, and strappy Badgley Mischka heels.

The actual manicure was fairly simple. I painted two thirds of my nail with the lighter Spa Ritual polish and the bottom third with the Deborah Lippmann. After they dried, I added Spy Princess's White Tie Affair, which is the star of this nail show.

To wear it during the week, I put on a matte topcoat that took a little of the in your face glitter look off. I tried to take a picture of it, but it wasn't to successful, so I am not adding that one.

Polish Notes

Spy Princess-White Tie Affair

Spy Princess is a small Indie polish maker with a shop on ETSY (in the states). Most of her work is glitter based. I have no idea how I found Spy Princess but liked her spy themed names. Her polishes have names like Honeypot, Kir Royale, and Mata Hari.

White Tie Affair is a mixture of black hexes, silver bars, holographic squares and holographic micro glitter suspended in a clear base. I have found that it goes great over about any color.

I am not to crazy about the bottle design. It is different, that is for certain. But, I have trouble with to much polish getting on the wand. I am always having to wipe the excess along the top inside so things don't drip.

Spa Ritual-Silver Shimmer

Silver Shimmer is from Spa's 2012 Holiday Metal Collection. This is just a great silver metallic. I have two cheaper ones (Wet 'n Wild and Chi) which have a problem with streaking with application. Silver Shimmer goes on silky smooth and is just a beautiful silver toned polish. It is up to Spa's usual perfection. Silver Shimmer can be purchased on Amazon.

Deborah Lippmann-Moon Rendezvous

Moon Rendezvous is a slate blue grey metallic with a shimmer. It can be a little streaky, but you just have to look at it right to see the streaks.

Moon Rendezvous was part of my Beauty Brands DL clearance haul last fall. I will have to say, although I have a few grays, I don't have anything quite like this one. It really is quite gorgeous.  It is still in the line up and can be gotten in quite a few places, Beauty Bar and Deborah Lippmann are just a few.
Well, that is it for now.............

I thought Dad took a pretty good picture Rachelle and I.

In The Mood For Gray And Glitter

Last week I pulled out some of my Spa Rituals and an OPI for this mani. I used:

Base Coat: Spa Ritual's Mood

Silver Line: Spa Ritual's Silver Shimmer

Glitter Accent: OPI's Tangled In The Tinsel

That wraps it up for this time.

Matte And Gloss From Spa Ritual

This is one of my more current ideas. I have quite a few Spa Ritual. TJ Maxx had a bunch in last Fall and I indulged.

The polishes used were: Spa Ritual's Regal (gloss), Spa Rituals Spirit (matte), and Strite Rite's Gold.

I put the matte on first, then did the gloss section. Finally, I delineated between the two areas using the Stripe Rite gold.

Hijinking A Hoof Wrassle

Today I have another Rainbow Honey Equestria pairing. This time around I am featuring Hoof Wrassle. With this polish, I am half finished trying out this collection. Four worn, and four to go!

Rainbow Honey describes Hoof Wrassle as,

" A shimmery copper orange base studded with gold, copper, and orange hex and square glitter, and a sprinkling of iridescent and holographic glitters - this polish loves to sparkle in the sun."

I combined it with Spa Ritual's Hijinks. Hijinks is a wonderful orange (not to harsh) with a slight shimmer (and as with all my Spa Rituals, I found it either on Ebay or Amazon).

I left the pinkie finger un-wrassled for the photo. I wanted to show off Hijinks's gorgeous color. Hoof Wrassle actually darkens it a bit.

The Lineup-I also used a top coat of Seche Vite

Just a little extra eye candy

I think I wore this mani for about four days and enjoyed it, especially when I was out in natural sunlight. Has anyone else been trying to bring the warmer weather on with an orange mani? I hope you enjoyed looking at this one.

Both these polishes are cruelty free.

That's it this time. So until next time and I hope today brings you a beautifully polished life

It's Raining Men!

Here is a new "bring over" from my Meadowtree blog to B..Nails. I did this during colder weather but this blue is an all season color in my book.

The two combined-I repainted Raining Men on the tips to show the difference of the two polishes.

I went a little blue this weekend. I have wanted to wear these two together for a long time and this was the weekend to do it. The two polishes that I combined in this mani were Spa Ritual's It's Raining Men and Mentality's Holo.

Spa Ritual's It's Raining Men is a silvery blue that is great on it's own. I just like Spa Ritual. It is the only mainstream cosmetic company that has the Leaping Bunny logo. Peta lists it as also being Vegan. At the time of this update I have eight Spa Ritual (see my stash above for the ones I have) colors and have a sneaky feeling that is just the beginning of this love affair.

It's Raining Men is a beautiful polish on its own.

Mentality is one of my favorite Indie brands on ETSY. They offer great service and get back immediately with you with any questions that you have about their products. Some polishes are developed with certain social causes in mind and with a purchase a certain amount of money is donated to that cause. The causes that you can support through Mentality are: breast cancer awareness, ADHD awareness, PTSD awareness, child abuse awareness, and domestic violence awareness. I know that I will be making more purchases from them in the future.

Mentality's HOLO which is a holographic topcoat adds an incredible look on top of It's Raining Men

Close up of Mentality's HOLO

I love the look these two give my mani. Here are the links to the various sites that I have mentioned this time around.

Leaping Bunny
Mentality Polish
Peta's Beauty Without Bunnies
Spa Ritual

Both Spa Ritual and Mentality are cruelty free.

So until next time and I hope today brings you a beautifully polished life.......Terri
